Homeschool Days

SCM's Homeschool Days is a monthly program for homeschool students and their families. Homeschool Days provides homeschool students with a fun-filled learning experience full of educational programming and museum play!


During Homeschool Days, one all-ages class is offered exclusively to Homeschool Students during the Museum's open hours. Classes are appropriate for Grades Preschool-2 and may include science, art, music, cultural, and/or literacy classes.


Spring 2019 (January - May)

Spring 2019 classes will be held on a NEW date & time: Every LAST Wednesday of the month from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. Registration is OPEN for all the following classes:

April 24, 2019: Sun Science

How is the sun's energy used on Earth? Find out in this class all about the sun! For our main activity, children will explore the power of sunlight by making a sun print.


May 29, 2019: Cooking Around the World

Get ready to travel the world in an hour! Children will have the opportunity to prepare and sample foods from six continents, including rolling their own sushi and pressing their own tortillas.



Discounted admission for Non-Member adults and children (over 1) is $5/person, which includes the class and Museum play. Because Homeschool Days is a special event, a class fee of $3 is required for each Member child.

  • Non-Member adults and children: $5 per person
  • Member children taking class: $3 per child
  • Member adults, Member children not taking class & children under 1: Free

Discount passes, including (but not limited to) passes issued by the Sacramento Children's Museum, the Sacramento Association of Museums, and the Discover & Go library program, are not valid for Homeschool Days.
