PLEASE NOTE: AT THIS TIME, SCM IS NOT ACCEPTING NEW VOLUNTEERS.
Being a volunteer at Sacramento Children’s Museum is a great opportunity to get involved with our growing museum and all we have to offer. SCM welcomes volunteers who have the same vision for providing children with a place where they are inspired, challenged, and nurtured. Whether it is helping create exhibits and programs, organizing fundraising events, or being a docent, there are a variety of fulfilling ways get to get involved!
Once you have filled out our application, you are required to attend a volunteer orientation before you can begin volunteering at the museum. Orientations are held the first Sunday of the month at 11:30 am.
Please bring the following items with you to the volunteer orientation:
- Photo ID (state- or school-issued)
- If you are under the age of 18, please also bring a completed Parent Waiver and Release Form.
Please Note: Volunteers MUST be at least 14 years old or a high school freshman to participate. Please contact the museum at volunteer@sackids.org for more information about our volunteer program.

Corporate Group Projects
If your business has a matching volunteer program, a group of five or more employees, or has a day to take off work for volunteer services, we would love to have you here! Corporate Groups are encouraged to schedule a time, preferably a Monday when the Museum is closed, or come in after hours to help us out with projects we do not have the opportunity to complete during open hours. Examples of past Corporate Group Projects include exhibit repairs, exhibit builds, painting, and other large projects.
Other Group Projects
Groups or clubs (fraternal organizations, charity groups, school groups, scouts, etc.) consisting of 5 or more members have the opportunity to organize special activities for the Museum.
