Field Trip Basics
Field Trips to SCM are self-guided trips throuh the museum with your chaperones and students! SCM Play Facilitators will go over general information for your visit and then your students will be invited to explore and play. Our field trips are best for students in TK to 1st grade.
Field Trips Include:
- 90 minutes of exploration on the Museum floor. All field trips begin in Leo’s Learning Lab.
- Private room is provided for backpack storage.
- A “Golden Ticket” for each student. These are free admission passes for each student to use at future date.
Group Visit Criteria
- We require a 1:5 adult-child ratio
- Field trips are recommended for preschool-1st grade, or ages 4 to 6.
- Closed-toed shoes and matching school shirts or badges are recommended.
Cost
- $10 per student
- up to 4 teachers and other staff for free
- $10 per additional adult, including parent chaperones
- Payment is required to secure your reservation; invoices are sent via email immediately after your requested date has been confirmed.

- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- 9:30-11 AM
- Lunch—Your group will only have 1 hour and 30 minutes of play. Lunch will be on your own outside of the museum.

Frequently Asked Questions
No, field trips are separate from your membership.
Only siblings under 12 months are allowed on field trips. Any additional siblings are not allowed due to insurance contracts with schools.
If siblings over 12 months are brought in, then the parent and sibling(s) will be considered general public and not part of the field trip. This means they will need to wait on the other side of the museum and cannot join in the scheduled lunch (if applicable).
Yes, only 2 classes are allowed per visit to accommodate our general admission and building safety requirements.
No, schools are not allowed to use Golden Tickets in place of payment for a field trip. Golden Tickets are given to students to come back to the museum with their families.
